Description | Somewhat turnip-shaped body; flaring neck; two vertical loop handles on body. Plain. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip (?). There appears to be a burnished finish on the body while the neck is smoothed with a rotative movement on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. resinous glob with red pigment under one of the handles. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1128d." |
