Description | Irregular sandstone stela with lightly pecked incised decoration. There is a decorative register surmounting three lines of text, read left to right. At the left side of the top register is a standing figure of a leonine-goddess with a sun disc on her head. She holds a papyrus scepter in her left hand, and an ankh in her right. A short epigraph in front of her head labels her as Bastet(?), included here as a manifestation of Sekhmet. In the middle of the register is the god Ptah, standing on a plinth inside a shrine, facing right. A tassel extends from the back of his neck, and he holds a was scepter. Above his head inside the shrine is his name, "Ptah, Great of Strength." At the right side of the top register stands a worshipper who wears a long kilt, has a shaved head, and holds his hands up in praise. The three columns of text above his head are somewhat damaged, but give his name as the Incense Bearer of Ptah, Ankhefsekhmet. |
