Description | Female ancestor figure, wood, carved in style of Yuat River. Arms at sides, breasts in mouths of two snakes. Cassowary feather headdress. Triangular base. White and red pigment on face with clay border imbedded with cowrie, nassa, conus shells. Area on right side partially chipped away. Neck and breast area painted red. Figure wears short skirtband. Plant fiber cords around ankles and wrists, and ornaments in ears. |
