Description | Red jar slightly melon grooved and painted with stripes, flaring neck, two vertical loop handles on shoulder Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a red slip and white painted lines. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The neck is smoothed with rotative movement. Evidence of usewear includes surface attrition on the bottom/base and residue on the interior. There is a white efflorescence/accretion on the interior, possibly from use. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2853." |
