Description | Sarod or Sharode. Long narrow body of dark brown wood, deeply waisted. Bottom surrounding surface (and lower part of top surface) of skin. Top soundboard leads directly into neck. V-shaped ivory inlay. ivory inlay around edges of sides and front of inst. Peg box curves back. 6 lateral pegs (3 on each side) extend through open pegbox. 8 lateral pegs along side of upper soundboard. Gold cord and black string tied to head of inst. Fair condition. Skin sound surface split. Ivory inlay loose. Peg box loose. Strings missing. 5 lateral pegs missing from side of inst. |
