Description | Pottery; mended and foot restored. Fabric of medium fine texture, black at core, reddish on outer surface. Handmade. Exterior of vase, interior of foot and upper surface of rim covered with cream slip over which designs are painted in red: edge of rim short transverse lines; in 4 grooves of upper surface of rim 4 bands; exterior surface of bowl and foot horizontal bands; within foot a zigzag. Concave portion of upper surface is painted solid red, without underlying slip; color is quite like that of the painted stripes and different from underlying clay. Two string holes. |
