Description

Bottom section of a rice mill in the form of a cylindrical basket which sits on a four legged stand. This was used for the milling of rice in the first half of the 20th century in the village of Ban Chiang. It was two years old at the time of acquisition (1981). The family who owned it liked it because the rice it produced was sweeter than mechanical rice mills. This may be because it removes less bran.
