Description | Probably pine root; flat bottom; flaring sides. Plain twining, rather small stitches. Edge braided and finally tied with native (?) string. Decoration: overlay twining of natural-colored grass; consists of single row below edge, then band of small triangles close together; vertical columns of diamonds joined together in middle, decreasing in size toward bottom, on sides of basket- 11 columns. Graduated size of diamonds gives optical illusion of basket being taller that it really is. Medium size; dry. |
