Description

Chaofu 朝服 (audience robe). Official costume of a mandarin of the second rank. Blue and black silk and gold brocade dragon robe for summer wear. Embroidered with royal dragons in gold and waves and cloud forms in color. Edging is later. A second-rank official wore this silk robe on the most important days of his life-to meet the emperor, take state exams, and attend weddings. Only the highest members of the Court could wear this blue-black color.
