Description

Esrar. Long broad neck of wood with 13 movable convex metal frets; small body, slightly globular in shape with deeply incurved sides; sound board of parchment in hourglass shape. Ivory bridge rests on leather and extending around body of inst. Wood at top and bottom of inst. Body carved in floral design. 15 ivory pegs in wooden strip along side of neck. 4 large dark wooden pegs at top of neck (2 later, 2 frontal). Ivory inlay with bird and floral designs. Wooden tail piece with ivory top and 3 ivory pegs to which metal drone strings are attached. Good condition. 2 frets missing, some drone strings broken and detached. Leather strap deteriorated.
