Description | Baby carrier (tembe dala). Coarse cotton (kafa galia). Black and blue dyes obtained from local indigo. Machine embroidery using cotton thread bought in Sila. A classic tembe dala. Because it has been washing many times the blue stripes in the ground of the cloth are visible. Made in 1982, Kambentu hamlet. Black, with faint blue stripes and eight narrow double light blue stripes. Each end decorated with a band of double zig-zag machine stitching and 3 machine-stitched 8-pointed stars. |
