Description | Loop handle and spout on back of bird. Painted: red-white-black Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an effigy-zoomorphic body (shaped like a bird), missing neck, missing rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a footed base. The vessel is shaped like a standing bird and is painted with the features of the bird in white, black, and red/orange. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1807." |
