Description | Shawl worn by women on ceremonial occasions. Burgundy foundation with metallic gold supplementary weft. At each end a broad horizontal band of "bamboo sprout" (pukuak rebung) and "tree of life" (pukuak jagung) motifs, followed by a band of "ceremonial plate" (sajamba makan) bordered by narrow strips of "baby duck" (itiak pulang patang). In center field the "beautiful girl" (cantik manis) motif. In the vertical borders "interwoven rattan" (kaluak laka), "fishes on fish hook" (atua bada), and "wicker work" (anyaman). Narrow (.8 cm.) green band at one end. Shawl (selendang). Worn by women on ceremonial occasions. |
