Description | Coconut grater, but in miniature. Coconut grater, Marshall Islands, very small. It is usually much bigger, so that one can put ones foot on it to hold the grater in place. Nowadays they also use metal graters, which are much easier to use. The coconut is sometimes opened by sharpening a stake at both ends, sticking it into the ground, impaling the coconut on it and pushing. Forked piece of wood, with short branch sticking up, to which a serrated piece of coconut shell lis bounch with string. |
