Description | Head strap like -1933. Basket with small square open checkerwork bottom, attached to high wooden split base with wide double lacing technique. Under the lacing and over the wooden base, a section of split palm is held Bottom splits are bent up at right angles to become the warps of the body (wickerwork). And doubled back over lower of 2 bamboo hoops at lip of basket. Both hoopes are held in position with wrapped loops of rattan. The doubled-under tops of warp splints are held down with a series of wrapped clove-hitch knots. |
