Description

Three dimensional puppet with wooden torso, wooden head, wooden arms, articulated at shoulder and elbows, cotton skirt from waist down. Puppet is held and operated by a wooden stick which passes through a hole in the torso and into the base of the head and by sticks attached to the hands. Face bright pink, rest of skin gold. Bulging round red eyes, hooked nose, black curly hair. Headdress with blue/pink/white/black striped spiral ornaments, vestigial garuda. Blue/red/white ornaments at upper arms, red bracelets at wrists. Wrists flexed, red talons. Long black velvet chest cover with yellow rickrack around edges and three sunbursts in silver thread. Black velvet sash. batik skirt: purple/light brown/cream in diagonal patterned stripes. Fabric typical of central Java. Lettering on base of torso.
