Description

Fragment in low relief showing most of lower part of body of a genius and most of the lower part of one wing; design shows genius from plain belt, two tiered skirt, part of bare thigh; figure faces right; see 65-31-502.

Muscarella Publication: "A fragment with part of a winged man, left. He wears a thick belt over a fleece-like garment that cover his left thigh; the right thigh is exposed. Part of a wing curves down before flaring out; it is possible that the man had more than one wing represented. This is the only preserved example of a winged figure on a plaque. Unfortunately, we do not know whether the head was human or that of a griffin."
