Description | Chikara, similar to sarangi. Wood with small square peg box with three lateral pegs for melody strings of gut, borad neck, hourglass shaped body with membrane sound surface painted black. Nine lateral pegs along neck for sympathetic wire strings. No frets, wire strings run below melody strings. Neck painted red-gold, design of yellow with small green and red flowers run around edge of instrument. Head carved in shape of bird's head. Good condition. Membrane warped. Wire strings loose, one gut string broken. One peg replaced with crude copy. Ivory piece to one peg detached. No bow. |
