Description | Tapering body, flaring neck, two vertical loop handles on body, modeled features on neck, arms and ornaments painted on like #31738 Face-neck narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. There is a face with the eyes painted on in black and white and an added modeled nose and ear spools. Arms painted on the body of the vessel in black and white. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2752." |
