Description

Plaid sarong (tembe paleka). Black ground is coarse cotton (kafa galia) dyed with local indigo. Pink and probably yellow, white and maroon are predyed synthetic (naggoli). Mixture of materials is unusual. Woven using outdoor loom. Well executed piece. Machine sewn. Made in 1983, Keto Rasa hamlet. Black, with yellow, maroon, white plaid. Bright pink panel with narrow black and yellow stripes. Pink border stripes.
