Description | Sommerville: Onyx. A Divinity. Antique fragment of first century. Greek and Roman Cameos, Case Q. Vermeule: Sardonyx. Cameo. (Unmounted). Left side broken away. Laureate, draped bust of a youthful male divinity, perhaps Apollo, facing to left. the hair of the back of the head is done in a curiously non-antique "sappho" - type sakkos. 18th century in skillful imitation of a Roman cameo of ca A.D. 50 |
