Description | Saw-tai. Dark brown wood (possibly gourd) body rounded with three bulges. Front resonator of skin. Spike end of ivory with carved rings around it. Ivory neck where attached to body. Wood with inlaid pearl for main section of neck. Pegbox and end of ivory (end of plaster for this instrument) three springs, three long lateral ivory pegs. Poor condition. Resonator split, spiked end broken at end and loose from body. Neck loose where ivory joins wood section and body. One peg broken, plaster end above pegs detached. |
