Description | CBS Register: seal cylinder, hematite altruing to limonite PBS XIV: Two standing figures facing each other on either side of a crescent on a short pole. The first has a flounced robe and hand extended low. The head is broken off. She is perhaps an assistant goddess. The second has the turban and short tunic of Martu, but no shawl nor weapon. He may be a worshiper. The emblems behind are the caduceus or Ishtar or Ninib, and the crooked Martu sticks on the back of an antelope or ibex crouched on the top of a brick tower with three well marked steps. It seems likely that the ziggurat supported the colossal emblems, weapons and animals of the gods. Cyl. seal. Hematite, altering to limonite, 22 x 8 mm. |
