Description | Flat mass of prepared wax composed of sal or shal resin (Dhuna in Bengali and Malar) and mustard oil. The sal tree (Shorea robusta) produces a dammar which is made into incense. The chunks of incense (dhuna) are purchased by the Malar for thier wax base. Haradhan Karmakar, an artist, says they mix it 1 kg resin: 500 g oil. They also add paraffin to it in India. |
