Description | Graceful, elongated, spheroidal, slightly flaring neck: two vertical loop handles shoulder to neck. Painted with simple lines of the same character as those of the coast of N. Lima. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, flaring neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is white slipped and painted with black or purple lines in a geometric pattern. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is buff in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2711." |
