Description

Loincloth (weri) or shoulder cloth (selampe). Formerly worn in Donggo as loincloths and in lowlands as shoulder cloths. Traditional design and color combination. All cotton, probably synthetic dyes. Made in Sila, before 1960. Collected in Kambetu hamlet. Orange center with large yellow hexagon, the points of which are created by a tapestry weave, in a stepped pattern. Borders red, with three complex stripes. At each end, three yellow stripes and a 13 cm - long fringe. Hole in border, darned with white thread. Soiled
