Description

Plain. With a face. Face is produced my a mold. One loop handle.

Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a lentoid body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel has a stamped face on the neck with two modeled ears. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The face is clearly stamped on as the features are very soft. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1524."
