Description | White Painted or Bichrome II bowl (from sherds at west end of chamber). Incomplete; fragmentary. Buff light fabric, evenly fired and gritty. Surface color is slightly lighter than ordinary WP of Lapithos. Paint is matt brown in two shades giving almost a bichrome effect. Delicate small bowl on low foot with broad base; short hollow stem; upper body nearly straight; plain rim; 2 oblique horizontal handles on upper body. Interior: 3 bands below rim of which central one is lighter, slightly reddish brown; brown spiral bands at bottom. Exterior: 2 bands below rim; wavy line encircling upper body just below rim; 6 sets of double concentric circles with solid dot center around mid-body at handle level; encircling brown lines with central reddish brown band around lower body; stem, foot and handles painted solid brown. |
