Description

Knotted netting. The twist from which the net is made is of fibre stripped from oil palm leaflets. Through the meshes of one long edge of the net is strung a coarser twist made from the same material. To this string are tied floats cut from the midribe of raphia leaves. To one end of the string is tied a wooden hook, which is held by a fisherman in the canoe while the net trails astern. Fishes get their heads caught in the meshes of the net.
