Description | Knotted netting. The twist from which the net is made is of fibre stripped from oil palm leaflets. Through the meshes of one long edge of the net is strung a coarser twist made from the same material. To this string are tied floats cut from the midribe of raphia leaves. To one end of the string is tied a wooden hook, which is held by a fisherman in the canoe while the net trails astern. Fishes get their heads caught in the meshes of the net. |
