Description | Sixteen bosses similar to 67-39-36/41 but smaller and with two repousse ribs as concentric circles (the smaller at the point where the shape rises sharply toward the knob). Shape is slightly flatter than the preceeding as well. Generally lt. green grainy patina with darker patches and some areas of heavy red iron corrosion. Mounting loops cast on as in previous examples. NB 58: Same type but had been broken (? or miscast) and repaired in antiquity. The conical central portion and knob are attached to the plate as a separate piece by means of two rivets. The mounting loop consists of a strip of metal rivetted on at either end (almost invisible from the front). |
