Description | Plain. Cooking, red ware. Cooking pot (olla) with a carinated body, bulging collar, missing rim, no handles, and a rounded base. The vessel has two protrusions opposite each other on the collar. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Evidence of usewear includes black staining on the interior and soot on the exterior. The catalogue number is written on the interior of neck. Black ink on the interior of neck reads: "1260 ?." |
