Description | shell button. Made of blue & red woolen cloth, "pearl" buttons, tanned skin, & puffin beaks. Extremely poor condition- badly motheaten. Almost rectangular (bottom edge curved) made of 4 dark blue pieces of cloth sewn together & bound along top edge & corners with red wool strip. 2 bands of red wool sewn on front, curving up-ward at ends. Row of pearl buttons sewn around bands. 2 extra buttons between ends of rows. Fringe on bottom with puffin beaks still attached in few places. String of buttons hangs near bottom, out of position. On both ends, sections of leather band with wide strip fringe also with puffin beaks attached, sewn on undersurface just below cloth fringe. (Once a continuous strip.) |
