Description | with face Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a squat-globular body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, no handles, and a flat base. The vessel has a modeled face with ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. The facial features are painted red and gray/white and the body is painted with double sided animal heads in black, white, and red. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1156." |
