Description | Stringed musical instrument. Section of bamboo cut in half lengthwise. Metal hooks attaching strings. Hooks and strings missing. Per Musical Instrument Card (1950/1972): San-gen-kin. Tube zither made from half-bamboo section as back of body. Flat wooden sound board with 3 pegs diagonally arranged at 1 end. 4 metal strings are inside body which vibrate sympathetically (cf Piggott 144 CB II p. 29 #1543). Poor condition. Strings and pets missing. Sympathetic strings detached at one end. Sound board partially detached from Bamboo body. |
