Description | CBS Register: Cast. terracotta figurine, fragment. Bel with pointed headdress. PBS XVI: Standing male figure armed with the scimitar. There was probably a club in the empty left hand. Primitive and hand-modelled. The pellet eyes, beard, arms, band across the chest and weapons are separate pieces attached. Fingers and bracelets are incised. So are the fringes of the shawl and the hair tied in a knot—unless this is intended as a woolen cap. The figure perhaps represents el-Enlil, but obviously wears no horned mitre. Cast of frag. of terracotta from the Archaeology Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. |
