Description | Different type from MS1443 - the higher, slimmer belly makes a less violent transition to the shoulder. Gray color with black splotches. Pinkish core. Both handles broken, one of which has been replaced. Foor fragments recovered and replaced. At the shoulder, 2 thin grooves, a slight ridge above the stem, another near the base of the stem, and at the top of the foot a slight ridge marks transition from stem to foot. The double strap handles rise from the shoulder, swing out and up, and are folded over at the projecting rim below the lip, but not in contact with it. Differences in fabric, shape, and decoration suggest a different place of manufacure than the type of MS1443. |
