Description | Black bucchero pesante semi-cylindrical stand. High stem with two rings. Trumpet foot. Body is a half cylinder, open at the top. Squared lip with single volute at each corner, and a knob in between. The underside of the semi-cylinder has ridged lines—one line at each end, one double-line in center. Shiny black surface, slightly encrusted. The ends of two volutes are broken off. There is a crack in the stem, and part of the foot is repaired. There is currently no consensus as to the function of this type of stand. Note: There is a red and white sticker with the letters J (?) and C and the number 37 below. |
