Description | Round bottom, neck bulging with everted lip, two horizontal loop handles on body, molded band of textile design on upper body. Red clay pot encircled with engraved ornaments, slightly painted Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, rounded rim, 2 horizontal strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has an incised geometric design around the shoulder. The pot is painted red with white circles around the handles and collar. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2865a." |
