Description

A cocoon unraveller made up of a frame in an H-shape with vertical supports curved inward. The main vertical supports are wider at the top, with rectangular nooks on the inside. Vertical supports fit into slot on horizontal support, and shape of vertical supports allows central apparatus on horizontal support to adjust to different heights. From main horizontal support, two smaller, vertical supports are attached. Placed over a pot in which silk cocoons are simmering, the threads are drawn off and over the roller into a pile behind. (the previous owner was an immigrant from Chaiyaphum, Mr. Li Hirionatha (Lung Li ลุงลี) the principal informant at the the of acquisition (1981) says he never saw this style before).
