Description | 小荳. Red Beans, Crab's Eyes. The berry of a leguminous shrub, growing to the height of several feet in the south of China. Used as beads by Chinese children. They are believed to prevent the evaporation of camphor when kept with it. From Guangdong province. Value at Guangzhou, $3 per picul. Purple/black seeds with white stripes. One of a collection of samples of Chinese medicine, each in an individual glass jar sealed with cork top. |
