Description | Double Human Figures. Fairly hard, medium brown wood. Figures are quite sylized except for heads; are carved to enclose a hollow, interrupted only by heads and base. Larger figure at bottom has limbs and other structural elements partially covered by incised lines; hair and eyes painted black, seed and fiber ear ornament in one ear, seed and wood nose ornament. Smaller figure has no surface carving, black hair and eyes, one ear ornament. Nose is broken off. May have been used in joai-feast (see 58-17-3 for reference). |
