Description | Cleaned by F.C. Very dark smooth patina with small patches of crystaline green. Bronze sheet of varying thickness cut out and filed smooth into a figure-8 shape with a rectangular extension at top. Piece broken off at upper L. A slgihtly raised border runs all around, traces of file marks at edges. 8 holes drilled from behind for mounting (probably to leather backing). Dec. is in bands outlined with incised lines. The outside border band is filled by a zig-zag slgithly raised from the back outlined to give dog-toothed effect. These dog-teeth are filled with a very fine cross-hatching. In vertical band are 3 rows of small repousse dots outlined with punched circles. A border of 2 rows of punched circles surrounds the lozenge-shaped central motif in the upper swelling. |
