Description | Cooking pot, slightly painted, globular body, swollen neck, two vertical loop handles on upper body, small bosses and "walls of troy" relief work around upper body Cooking pot (olla) with a globular body, bulging collar, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a rounded base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a raised geometric design on the shoulder in the form of raised lines in a meander pattern. There are repeated bosses on the body just below the band of geometric decoration. The vessel is painted red with white lines and dashes on the handles and along the edges of the geometric pattern. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2732a." |
