Description

Carved drinking horn; mouth of object is oblong in shape; body tapers to a rounded pointed base; hole through horn at base end; the design on the horn are kalonge-longe, concentric circles, and the elliptical pattern, lebembe-the iguana; object is dark brown in color

Made by paring down the horn of a buffalo and leaving the ornament in relief. This is on the most difficult tasks of the sculptors, who, like the weavers and blacksmiths, are men. The designs most favoured in the deocration of the horns are kalonge-longe, concentric circles, and the elliptical pattern lebembe, the iguana.
