Description

Sommerville: Pale Sard. Vittimario. Gold Rings - Intaglios, Case FFF.

Vermeule: Pale Sard. (Modern Gilt Ring Setting) Half figure bust of a youth facing to left., he is laureate, wears a cloak over his shoulders and carries an axe over his right shoulder. As Sommerville has noted at length, a Roman Victim arises is intended. The design, however, copies medallion portraits of Antinoos, the favorite of Hadrian. Neo-Classic.
