Description | Dasavatara ganjifa playing cards which represent the ten avatars of Vishnu. Originally there would have been ten suits with twelve cards in each suit, ten numbered cards and two court cards, however eleven are missing giving a total of 109 cards as opposed to a complete 120. The suits are the following: Matsya suit on a black background and a fish (missing number 6), Kurma suit on a brown background and a turtle (missing numbers 7,10), Varaha suit on dark green background with a conch, Narasmimha suit on a dark grey with a chakra (missing number 3 and both face cards), Vamana suit on a green/blue background with water pot (no face cards), Parashurama suit on a white background with an axe, Rama suit on a dark red background with an arrow, Balarama suit on a green background with a club (missing one face card), Jagannath suit on a yellow background with a lotus flower, and Kalkin suit on a red background with a sword (missing two face cards). |
