| Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted blue with inverted "V" lines in red, black and yellow above the protruding, tube mouth. Feathers and yarn are attached to the top of the head and to the ears. The body is painted blue and red and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is the Kau-a (or Qoia) Katsina, borrowed from the Navajo. (Colton, H. 1959 #135, Wright, B., 1973 #178) |
