Description | Brown on white in complex design arranged checkerboard fashion Rectangular cotton cloth with a embroidered design. The design is superior (embroidered on loom?) to the ground fabric. The complex design is placed in a checkerboard pattern onto the ground fabric. There is a join, visible at one warp end. Evidence of being attached along one of the weft edges by the little "ties" that are left. Other edges are "repaired" and bound, most likely an indigenous repair. Evidence of extensive indigenous repairs. Color(s): Undyed cotton base (ground fabric) with dark brown "embroidery". |
