Description | Round shield of rhinoceros hide. Slightly rolled rim. The exterior is lightly incised with a number of fine concentric circles. Rim is perforated at right angles to allow for 4 leather handles; one handle remains, and is simply knotted at each end. The primary handle is in the center of the interior and is of extremely strong thick hide or leather. This central handle is tied on with leather thongs which emerged onto the exterior where they are knotted. |
