Description | Tomb 1 = Herscher, Tomb 801. Fragmentary. Gray clay. Somewhat lustrous black slip. Base not preserved, hemispherical body, incurving rim; no lug preserved. Incised decoration: hatched bands joining concentric circles; at rim, a wavy horizontal line framed by straight lines. Herscher catalogues a 1:5 and 1:5b. Given her description and corresponding parallels, the sherds for these two vessels--bowl (1:5) and (1:5b) juglet. Cf. _Dhenia_, fig. 9.73; _SCE_ IV: 1A, fig. CXL.7, CLIV.11, 13; CM A1826. |
